A dog from Michigan has become a hero after saving an injured man from the snow. On New Year’s Eve, a man spent more than twenty hours in the snow, absolutely helpless.
After he rang into the new year, the man went to buy something for his fireplace in just pajamas and slippers. Unfortunately, he slipped and broke his neck. He tried to scream, but nobody heard him.
His savior came in the form of his dog, Kelsey, who heard her owner scream and rushed to his side.
“I was screaming for help but my nearest neighbor is about a quarter mile away, but my Kelsey came,” said Bob, the injured man. As the morning came, the man was unable to scream anymore, but Kelsey still came. The dog kept barking next to him. The man was just laying in snow as outside was freezing, 25 degrees.
The dog saved him from reaching hypothermia by licking him and standing on his body. “She kept me warm and alert. I knew I had to persevere through this and that it was my choice to stay alive.”
Bob’s neighbor eventually found him and called an ambulance. He was taken to the McLaren Northern Hospital, where he was treated. As he arrived there, he was in a pretty bad shape. His body temperature was under 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
The doctors performed a successful surgery. Bob still has to go through therapy, but he is thankful for being alive.
He will always be grateful to his dog and his neighbor, “my two heroes”.
