Casey Bloys confirmed the news on Saturday, during a press tour at the Television Critics Association in Beverly Hills.

“I believe that David Benioff and D. Weiss have a really specific plan regarding the number of seasons they want to do”, affirmed the HBO executive.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the filming for the seventh season will start in the next summer, in Northern Ireland.

The American hit TV series will come to an end in 2018, after the eight season’s finale and the production company it’s still debating on the number of episodes. “Game of Thrones” is an American fantasy drama based on the George R.R Martin’s novels. “Game of Thrones” premiered on April, 17 and gathered an impressive international fan base.

So far, “Game of Thrones” won 26 Primetime Emmy Awards and three Golden Globes.

The show was ranked as the most-nominated series for the third year in a row and became HBO’s “most watched”, after the sixth season’s finale, which magnetized almost 25 million viewers.

The “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series have sold more than 60 million copies worldwide.

The author, George R.R Martin also serves as a producer, scriptwriter and creative consultant of the show.

The production is the largest and most expensive TV production ever mounted in Belfast. The filming was also conducted in Spain, Croatia, Malta, USA, and Iceland. “Game of Thrones” main cast includes actors such: Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke and Lena Headey.
