According to the most recent reports, at least 247 were killed during the horrific earthquake that occurred on Wednesday morning.

The new victim inventory was published by the Italian press specifying that 190 people died in the Italian region of Lazio and other 57 lost their lives in Marche.

Over 100 persons died in the Rieti Province, while hometown Amatrice was completely destroyed.

Other victims were reported in the Ascoli Province especially in Arquata del Tronto and Pescara del Tronto.

In Pescara del Tronto, the bodies were literally lying on the park benches while the inhabitants spent the night in improvised tents.

Following the misery caused by the natural disaster, a 10-year-old girl spent more than 17 hours beneath the ruins before she was rescued by the firemen.

One rescuer could be heard saying: “You can hear something under here. Quiet, quiet.”

The Italian authorities weren’t able to establish an exact number of the missing people because they are so many. Especially when it comes to touristic cities such as Rieti or Amatrice.

Wednesday night, the Italian Civil Protection Department stated that the number of deaths is more likely to grow.

At least 247 people have been killed, including two babies, and 100 people are believed to be trapped under rubble after the 6.2-magnitude quake struck.

The firemen are struggling to search every single pile of rubble in order to save as many people as they can. They are carrying a race against time because as the time passes the chances of survival for the victims under the ruins is decreasing.
