Real Madrid's Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo kisses his trophy of Best Men's player in Europe at the end of the UEFA Champions League Group stage draw ceremony, on August 25, 2016 in Monaco.

It’s official! Cristiano Ronaldo is the best football player in Europe. The 31-year-old received the honorific title during the UEFA Award Gala in Montecarlo.

Following the Champions League draw ceremony on Thursday, the European football committee ranked the Real Madrid star as the UEFA Best Player in Europe.

“It probably was the season in my entire career. I can’t certify this, but it was an awesome year indeed. We were congratulated by everyone. I want to thank the players who stood by my side along the way. I am very happy”, said the Brazilian playboy before the official announcement.

“Of course, I’m pleased. It was an incredible season. Of course, it wouldn’t be fair to not congratulate my two other colleagues.”, answered Ronaldo after he was handed the trophy.

The UEFA Best Player Award was previously won by Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, and Franck Ribery.

Asked what his biggest dream as a kid was, Ronaldo said: “It was to be a football player and have success in football. Dreams come true.”

The nominees for the UEFA Best Player in Europe were Ronaldo’s colleague Gareth Bale, Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann, Luiz Suarez and last but not least, Lionel Messi.

The UEFA Award ceremony is organized by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and it was created in 2011.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are the only football players in the UEFA history who managed to win the desired award twice.

54 sports journalists from all around Europe reunite at the annual Gala to choose the Best Football Player of the previous season. The title holder is announced during the UEFA Award Ceremony.
