During the Los Angeles Auto Show, Mazda has unveiled the new SUV CX-5. It comes with an updated design and a fine selection of the newest technologies.

The most obvious differences between the new and previous model are the heavily updated exterior styling. It draws its inspiration from its brothers CX-3 and CX-9. Mazda declared they wanted to create a vehicle that matches the expression ‘refined toughness’.

As such, the front body of the new CX-5 is now 10mm wider, to give the car a better stability on the road. In addition, the pillars were pushed back by about 35 mm and were introduced a new grill. Other updates include headlights and thinner taillights, which gives a sportier appearance.
The interior of the new CX-5 was also refreshed with a three-spoke steering wheel, power button and a 4.6-inch screen in the dashboard. There is also a 7-inch screen found on top of the dashboard similar to most current models Mercedes-Benz. Mazda comes with a Bose premium sound system, plus connectivity systems that work with your smartphone.

While the engines will vary from market to market, Mazda CX-5 says the new SKYACTIV-D engine will get the 2.2-liter diesel, plus varying options on petrol such as SKYACTIV-G 2.0 and 2.5 SKYACTIV. All these engines can be coupled either to a six-speed automatic transmission or to a six-speed manual transmission. As a standard option, the new Mazda CX 5 will be equipped with front wheel drive, but the option with all-wheel drive will also be available.
