FBI calculated that arms sales in the US reached a new record on the most important sales day of the year, known as ‘Black Friday’.

The number of criminal records verified by the federal agency increased by 0.2% over the last few days, EFE transmitted.

A spokesman of FBI, Stephen Fischer, declared that the feds reviewed the criminal records of 185 713 prospective guns buyers.

This fact turns this year’s Black Friday the day with the highest sales of carbines and guns in the US in the last decades.

The 2016 records exceed the previous year when 185 345 people took advantage of the Black Friday discounts to buy weapons instead of toys and Christmas gifts.

Both 2015 and 2016 exceeded the record sales of weapons from December 21, 2012, when the feds checked 177 170 criminal records.

The trend of buying weapons continued this year, despite the fact sales decreased when Donald Trump won the presidential elections. He is known to be a tough supporter American’s rights to own and bear arms, backed by the powerful lobby group National Rifle Association.

Before the elections, the number of purchased guns raised because the Americans feared that Hillary Clinton would restrict the right to bear arms if she would win the elections, even if it is highlighted in the Second Amendment of the US Constitution.

The very permissive gun system in America lead to an increased crime rate, especially murders and armed robberies.

In the US occur 20 times more murders by shooting than in any other developed country.

Australia had a similar system to the US until 1996 when 35 people were killed in an armed attack. Since then, Australia has imposed a strict regime of weapons, that resulted in a 35% decrease of the crime rate in only 5 years.
