Instead of enjoying a beautiful wedding for his daughter, a businessman from Aurangabad spent almost 90 lakh rupees on a wonderful and selfless gesture which is seldom done these days.
Ajay Munot, the philanthropist businessman, built 90 houses for the homeless instead of organizing his daughter a beautiful marriage ceremony. Munot, who was thinking of spending between 70 to 80 lakhs on the wedding for daughter, thought better of it and decided on going for a much nobler cause.
“This is the new chapter in history and I hope that the same concept will be followed by the other rich communities,” Munot said. “We have some responsibilities towards our society and we tried to comply with it,” he added.
The bride to be was amazed and very happy with her father’s decision and stated, “I am very happy with the decision and will consider it as my marriage gift.”
Ajay Munot is the head of a construction business in Lasur. At present , more than 40 families have moved in with more to come in the near future.
“Usually, people spend a lot on weddings. But, one should also extend a helping hand to the needy. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged all individuals to serve the society,” Munot said.
“I steered cleared of an ostentatious wedding ceremony rituals and hotel bookings. The savings of nearly a crore and an addition of a few more lakhs ensured that there were funds enough for 90 housing units to be built.” he added.
