Mark Clattenburg has had an amazing year. After being in charge of the Euro 2016 and of the finals Champions League and refereeing the FA Cup final between Crystal Palace and Manchester United, Mark has been named the best referee in the world.

This happened at the Globe Soccer Awards. Mark received this amazing award on Tuesday.

No matter the circumstances, Mark demonstrated his amazing ability to take control over the game.

At the match between Croatia and the Czech Republic at Euro 2016, he was in charge when some Croatians threw flares on the pitch. He managed to take the players from the burnings flares’ way. The game was suspended for a few minutes.

At the Globe Soccer Awards, Fernando Santos was named the coach of the year after the victory brought to Portugal at Euro 2016.

The Best Player of the Year award went to Cristiano Ronaldo, who thanked for the honor in a video message.

The club of the year was Real Madrid, who won the Champions League. Their president, Florentino Perez, also received a great award, the president of the year.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino presented the award for manager Unai Emery.

The ceremony took place in Dubai on December 27 and 28.
