On Tuesday night, in Chicago, Barack Obama gave an emotional and heartfelt speech that brought many people tears.

He started with topics that concern his eight years as a president and then moved to thank his wife and family for the amazing support. He thanked the ones that helped him during his administration.

As he expressed his gratefulness towards his wife, Obama teared up, as well did Michelle and daughter Malia. “You’ve been not only my wife and mother of my children, but my best friend. You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody. You’ve made the country proud,” said Obama.

The audience stood up to applause the First Lady as she looked speechless.

Daughter Malia was by her mother’s side and cried too during her father’s emotional speech. The president didn’t forget to thank his daughters: “Malia and Sasha, you have become two amazing young women, smart and beautiful, but more importantly, kind and thoughtful and full of passion. Of all that I’ve done in my life, I’m most proud to be your dad.”

He thanked the American citizens for their immense support and for making him “a better man”.

Obama states how important it is to protect democracy for the future of the country and of the children. He promised to continue to support publicly the health care system of US.

He talked about this eight years, in which he had the honor to see graduates and new military officers, in which he suffered along with his nation.

He also thanked his Vice President, Joe Biden, “who became Delaware’s favorite son” and who is like a brother to him.

As he finishes, he says: “Yes we can. Yes we did. Yes we can.”

People have been deeply touched by his words. Many took to social media to express how grateful they are to have had such an amazing president. Celebrities also responded, feeling proud of him and moved by his speech.
