The worldwide known singer, Shakira, has urged the political leaders in business fields to support her efforts. That includes feeding, educating and providing medical care for poor children.
So, her requests came in the opening ceremony of the World Economic Forum in Davos on Monday, as Reuters reported.
‘Children today will lead tomorrow’s businesses. Their ability to contribute will shape tomorrow’s society, solving the problems to come’, said the Colombian star in a passionate speech.
So, Shakira is an ambassador for UNICEF and was devoted to issues related to early childhood development.
Therefore, Shakira has received the Crystal Award in Davos for her humanitarian actions.
Also, she is the founder of Pies Descalzos Foundation, which seeks to provide needy children in Colombia access to a high-quality education.
‘In this room are some of the most powerful people in the world. I am convinced that you know what it means to anticipate this turning point’, she added.
‘We must use intelligence and strategies of business operations, human resources and talents of your employees to do good and to solve the social problems’, concluded the singer.
Consequently, the World Economic Forum has also awarded prizes to violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. She runs a foundation that provides scholarships to young musicians.
Furthermore, an award has been handed to actor Forest Whitaker. He is known as a campaigner for peace, concentrating on helping young people. This way, he is helping them to become leaders and entrepreneurs in communities affected by violence and poverty.
