France discovered 150 to 200 “secret financers” of the Islamic State, mainly from Lebanon and Turkey, announced on Tuesday, Tracfin, a financing anti-money laundering, and anti-terrorism company.

“We have worked on detecting between 150 and 200 of these collectors, mainly established in Lebanon and Turkey”, stated the Tracfin director Bruno Dalles in the press release for “Risks of Capital Flushing and terrorism financing” in 2016.

“These ISIS sponsors donate funds in order to allow these terrorists to continue their missions”, pointed out the expert.

As the jihadists lose ground in Iraq and Syria, they are also deprived of their most important “sources of income”, such as “captures of war” and “extortion”.
