A man from Toronto was charged with more than $14.000 for a five-mile ride that lasted 21 minutes with Uber, even though such a race will normally cost less than $20, writes Slate.
The American company announced shortly after the incident was reported that it was an error and returned the client’s money.
“It was a mistake here, but I was solved”, stated an Uber spokeswoman in Canada, mentions Time.
“I returned the passenger’s money and I apologize for the experience. We have taken precautions to prevent such situations from happening and we try to discover how this happened”, added the spokesperson.
On social media, a photo of the ride’s summary was published shortly after the complaint was made published by the unfortunate customer.
The image proves clearly the fact that the driver charged indeed more than $18.000 Canadian dollars.
